Frequently Asked Questions

Is a boudoir session for me?

Yes!! Ultimately you will have to decide if now is the time for this adventure, but the experience of my own personal shoot paired with those of the many women I've worked with has made me a firm believer that this is for everyoneYou can read more about my own experience here - I hope you'll be inspired to create your own story!

I’m nervous!

Of course you are!! I was too (SO nervous)!

Don't worry though, my job is to coach you through the entire experience in a professional, fun, and safe way.

I've included a ton of information below to help you understand the process. And always feel free to email me with more questions!

How do I choose a photographer and what should I be looking for?

  • Professional & Trustworthy | From start to finish, your photographer should be transparent, polite, professional, reliable, and empathetic. You will be in a vulnerable situation with a person that you may not know very well. Do your research! Be sure they are truly a reputable, legitimate business and always communicate with another trusted individual about your plans. I always welcome my clients to bring a support buddy along to the shoot.

  • Transparency | Expect clear and understandable answers to your questions. For example, my contract clearly states that I cannot do anything with any of the photos without your separate express written consent.

  • Style | Be sure that you have reviewed plenty of my work and that you LOVE it! Some boudoir photographers have a very modest style while others push boundaries to the very edge. Throughout your session, I check in often to make sure you are feeling comfortable and will always listen and adjust based on your communication and cues.

  • Posing | Every woman you see featured on my website is typical, everyday woman (not professional models!). So you need not worry! Posing and making it look effortless is the my primary job and will carefully coach you through each movement and pose. When researching photographers be sure to ask how they approach posing during the shoot. If they don’t have a clear and understandable answer, I would recommend looking to another business.

Do I need a manicure, pedicure, bikini wax, etc?

This will be different for every person - you know you best! Of course, nothing is required, but a day of pampering can be a great way to pump yourself up for your session!

What about hair & makeup?

Professional Hair & Makeup are encouraged (airbrush, lashes, & light hair styling for that "I woke up like this" glam)! I recommend LaCretia Baskfield. She's magical - you wait and see! Find her on instagram and online!

Where do I buy lingerie and what should I buy?

You will be responsible for bringing your own wardrobe, but don't worry, it is easier than you think! One simple body suit (they look amazing on everyone...), some cheeky panties, cozy-off-the-shoulder tee's, and high heels. Bring several options and I'll help you narrow it down! Past clients have found some amazing pieces at Forever 21, ASOS, Nordstrom, Victoria Secret and even the always trusty Target!

When should I book my session?

If you need the photos for a special event (birthday, wedding, holiday, etc), I recommend booking a session that will take place about 6-8 weeks in advance. This will allow plenty of time for processing and products to be created and shipped.

Try not to put it off or wait until you "get into better shape"! (Really!)

This is the main reason those who are interested in a session end up putting it off. But I am a very strong believer that the strongest value is in seeing the beauty in yourself at any given moment. Your body will always be changing - every single day and over the years - but having the ability and finding the confidence to overcome any nagging self doubt is completely invaluable. Book your session and OWN it. Take care of yourself, but don’t go on a crash diet or exercising rampage before your session. You are beautiful - I promise!

Where will the session take place?

All of my sessions include the use of a private, beautifully-lit studio location in the heart of Scott's Addition.(Shoots off-site are available as well - contact me for details!)

What are the risks of having my photos “out there”?

Even a professional, established, and trust-worthy photographer is still not capable of providing an ironclad guarantee that your photos will NEVER be leaked or hacked. All of my galleries have strong password protection and require use email verification to login.

What if I begin to feel uncomfortable during the session?

I will take all the steps I can to make sure you feel safe and at ease during your session, but if you feel uncomfortable at any point - please - do not hesitate to speak up. Your safety and comfort are of the utmost importance.

Are you going to use my photos on your website?

I would LOVE to, but unless you're on board for that - Absolutely not. The only photos that will ever be shared on my website or any other media outlet will be from those who have given express, written consent and have completed a model release. If you are comfortable having your images shared as a way to help inspire others to celebrate themselves and do something amazing for themselves I would be incredibly honored. Let me know if you have any questions about this.

I'm STILL NERVOUS!

Embrace that the experience will make you nervous. It would be highly unusual if you were NOT nervous! You are always welcome to bring a support buddy OR find a friend who will do a back-to-back session with you and make a fun friends day out of it (I did this with a good friend and we were able to psych each other up in the weeks leading up to our session and were there to support one another during the shoot!).

 Don’t be shy!

Ask other people for advice or suggestions. Chances are you are not the only one who is interested and you may be surprised by who has already had a session and is DYING to talk about it.
